Lucy Anne Neiwert has arrived....two weeks early! She weighed in at a whopping 5 lb 2 oz and 18 inches long. We're having a great time remembering what it's like to have a newborn in the house again. Who said you need sleep and good nutrition to survive?

Liam has been pretty amenable to sharing his Ducks, which we think is nice of him. We're taking that as his sign that his sister is A-Ok with him. It's quite sweet too because when Lucy cries (which isn't very often), he comes running with his ducks and gives her one.

We think she's absolutely perfect. It's hard to capture how really tiny she is, but the pictures at least capture how really adorable she is!

Liam decided to donate his bed friends to Lucy's crib...for about 5 minutes. This was followed with Liam trying to climb into the crib, yelling at Lucy to "Get out!" At least he's not bossy.

Here's her going home from the hospital outfit. She was swimming in fabric, but still looked really sweet!

Getting ready to leave the hospital with Lucy's Birthfamily

Here's Liam meeting Lucy for the first time. Liam was a trooper all weekend. Since Lucy came so early, he spent the weekend shuttling back and forth between us and friends. As it turned out the hospital seemed like not the best place for our two-and-a-half year old. There's nothing like hanging out in the hospital room with the woman who is giving you her baby presumably because she believes we're decent, good parents while you watch your son run circles around the room, throwing matchbox cars through the air. Needless to say, Liam had limited hospital time and Allison (Lucy's birthmom) was incredibly understanding!
So far, in her one week of life, Lucy is a super happy little girl. She loves to eat and sleep and each day she opens her eyes a bit more. We're having big fun and we're so very thankful for her.
I have some cute videos of the Liam and Lucy, but since it's been an hour and my computer has yet to successfully upload them, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Oh, yay! I love little Lucy. She is so beautiful and Liam is adorable holding her. I've been thinking about you guys all week, hoping things were going well. It looks like you're having a great time!
Congratulations! Lucy is truly adorable. We wish you and the family all the best with your precious new addition!
Congratulations on the new addition! She's beautiful- we're very happy for you. Love, Richard, Melinda and McKenna
Wow! She is so tiny and so cute! I can't believe she's here already. I've been having regular chats with our girl to reiterate that she's not allowed to come early. Too much to do! We're thinking about all of you and wishing you the best.
So totally adorable! Congratulations . . . and get some sleep (if possible.)
I was reading through previous blogs and noted that you were trying to make sense of adoption agencies. I laughed. Shows that you're an old debater--trying to make things make sense. Sigh. My experience with government bureaucracies is that they DON'T make sense. They don't even try. In fact, sometimes you wonder if they they get paid only in proportion to the confusion they cause.
Hope all the paperwork comes through beautifully on this child.
She is PERFECT! Lovely and beautiful, and oh so wee. I think the picture with Wade's hand best captures her weeosity. I'm dying to hold her ... give her tons of kisses from me in the meantime.
Oh My! Oh My! She's beautiful, a miracle, such a wonderful gift! Wades hand gives a good glimpse of her size. That gets another ,Oh My!! Liam is the sweetest boy-sharing all your friends for even 5 minutes is huge when you are just 2. Big hugs to you, Liam. Miss you all bunches. Congratulations!
I love her! Congrats you guys!! Little girls are so sweet. Ada is 12 weeks tomorrow, and I can't believe how the time passes.
PS Can you tell me the name of Liam's agency again? I think it might have gone defunct!
Lucy is so precious--congratulations to all of you! I can't wait to hear more about her when you've got a little free time (hahahaha) and some energy to post again.
She's lovely and perfect and I wish I could hold her...I think it's not sufficient just to see blog pictures, but it will do for now. Happy adjustment to a family of four!
Rachel, I had heard your good news but somehow have not checked your blog until now. I am so thrilled for your family! What a precious baby girl you have, and what a lovely name she has! I hope you all are enjoying her and perhaps getting a bit more sleep at this point. Oh, it passes so quickly! Many, many congratulations to you, Wade and Liam! I hope I'll get to meet Ms. Lucy Anne in person in the future!
Congratulations Rachel and Wade! Lucy is adorable. Thelma sent me a card and included your blogspot address so I could see some pictures. I am so happy for your family. I sent a package a couple of days ago, so you should be receiving it soon. I sent a hat for Lucy, but the sizing on the pattern was a little messed up so hopefully it will fit. I may make another that is much cuter and less bulky.
